Atemoya Fruit
Scientific name - Annona atemoya
Atemoya is an exotic tropical fruit native to South and Central America. It is a hybrid of two fruits – the sugar-apple and the cherimoya. The Atemoya has a unique and beautiful heart-shaped appearance with a green, leathery skin that can range from yellow-green to deep green. The flesh of the Atemoya is creamy white with a sweet flavor and a soft, custard-like texture. The fruit is filled with small, edible black seeds that are often removed before eating. It has a sweet, sub-acid flavor reminiscent of pineapple, strawberry, and banana. The Atemoya fruit is high in vitamin C and potassium, and is a good source of dietary fiber and antioxidants.
Atemoya is a delicious crossbreed of two fruits i.e. the sugar-apple and the cherimoya. The heart-shaped fruit has a varying size from 8 in to 12 in length. Often added to desserts, the fruit is also used to make ice-creams.
