Glazed Apple Cream Pie Fruit Recipe

Apples are in rich in vitamin C and fiber and they are available throughout the year and less expensive when compared to other fruits. While purchasing select the ones which are bright in color, firm to touch and sweet smelling. Avoid apples with any kind of dark brown spots noticeable on the skin for they are rotten ones. Apples can be stored in fridge for 5 to 7 days to retain their freshness but it is best to be consumed as early as possible without refrigerating them.   • ½ cup of white sugar
  • ½ cup of milk
  • ½ cup of heavy cream
  • ¼ cup of butter
  • 2 tablespoon of cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons of milk
  • 1 tablespoon of extracted vanilla
  • 2 tart apples- peeled and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1 package of double- crust pie
  • ½ cup of confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of milk
  • ¼ teaspoon of vanilla extracted
  • 1 tablespoon of softened butter

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine ½ cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of milk, 1/2 cup of cream and ¼ cup of butter and heat until the butter gets melted.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch,2 tablespoon of milk and vanilla and stir it into a saucepan. Stir it occasionally and cook until it is thickened and allow it to cool down slightly.
  3. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and in a separate bowl, mix the apples, flour and cinnamon together.
  4. Pour thickened filling mixture into the 9 inch lined pie pan and arrange the apple mixture evenly over the filling. Top with second crust and cut the slits in edges.
  5. Bake it for 30 to 40 minutes until it becomes golden brown and cool it for at least 30 minutes.
  6. In a small bowl, combine confectioners’ sugar, 1 tablespoon of milk, 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla and 1 tablespoon of softened butter.
  7. Blend it until they become smooth and pour evenly over warm pie.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 1 ½ hours before serving.
